Watercolour Cards

Hi guys! Another hiatus! I've been busy crafting but naughty for not posting it! Stay tuned, I've got a bunch of lovely projects all lined up to pop up daily over the next week or so! :)

Today I've got my entry for the Crazy Crafter's Team Project Highlights for you. Be sure to pop on over to Kylie's page - the comp goes live at 6.30pm tonight & you can vote for your two favourite cards! You can also jump in & join us for the 'Thank You Theme' one going live at 6.30pm on 11 March, add your pic here or check out more details on Kylie's page.

I've had so much fun making these cards, being a bit more 'loose' with my approach. I just got the Aqua Painter Pens & they are great to use to splash a bit of colour across a large area quickly. I think the effect is really pretty, too.

To prep the ink, just squish the ink pad while closed so that the ink pad presses up against the lid & you get left with a bit of ink on it, then squeeze the Aqua Pen (which you've previously filled with water) to add a couple of drops of water to the ink. Then paint as desired!

At first I used Mint Macaron but felt it was too light, so I went over it with Lost Lagoon & then followed by Wisteria Wonder & Melon Mambo & a few drips here & there. I was inspired by a card Kylie did previously with a cute little ice cream on it. I've used a Tip Top Taupe card base layered with Shimmery White cardstock. The shimmer is gorgeous but doesn't show up very well in the pics. You can use either Shimmery White or Watercolour cardstock from Stampin' Up for watercolouring.

Then I've added some of the gorgeous new Glimmer Washi Tape in white from the SAB catalog!! I really hope they bring out this glimmer tape in the next catalog as a normal item, I will stock up if they do!! And I've also added the wooden Celebrate embellishment - I love these too!

Here's another one I've done with the Wooden Thanks embellishment.

I've had these rhinestone words gathering dust on my craft desk for ages & I love them but have never found the right place to use them, but after I did the wooden embellishments I thought these would work really well too & I'm so glad I've finally used them! The stamp is from the Balloon Celebration stamp set & I've used washi tape to cover the rest of the stamp when inking up & then peeled it off before I stamped it. You can also use masking tape or a post it note.

And here's the other rhinestone word I had sitting around. For this one I've used the A Whole Lot of Lovely stamp set & I've used the Washi Tape Technique again.

I hope you've enjoyed having a look at these cards, I really enjoyed myself making them! Remember to go to Kylie's page after 6.30pm tonight to vote! Here are the products I have used. Click here to go to my Online Shop.
