Ink & Inspiration August Blog Hop - Label Me Pretty & Playful Backgrounds

Hi Crafters!

Welcome to the August Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop! This month we are all getting our inspiration from my face cleanser haha!

So the story behind the cleanser is I get in the shower every morning & look at this bottle & think to myself 'I must case this'. I spend way too much time staring lovingly at this bottle. I love the layered shades, the colours, the different shapes & patterns. And it's a great cleanser haha! I thought it would be a little quirky & fun to do - inspiration can come from anywhere! The colours I picked out on this bottle are Tempting Turquoise, Lemon Lime Twist, Melon Mambo & Tranquil Tide.

Do you have moments where you're inspired by random things around your house?  I started off with a plan to replicate this bottle pretty closely in the colours & I wanted to try & also replicate the layering of the colours. So I had this piece of Glossy Paper that I'd sponged with Tempting Turquoise from this previous post & I decided to add Lemon Lime Twist to half of it in a couple of layers with rubbing alcohol (Isocol).

Then I Clear Heat Embossed the full circles from the Playful Backgrounds stamp set & wiped over it with some Isocol to try & remove some of the colour so that the bits I had heat embossed stood out a little more. I wasn't really happy that enough colour had come off so I wet it again with more Isocol & sprinkled it with salt flakes, which has left a lovely textured effect but I think next time I will try rock salt to get some bigger patterns.

Next I White Heat Embossed the circle outlines from the Playful Backgrounds stamp set & adhered the Glossy Paper to a Melon Mambo layer. I've added a strip of the Lemon Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon & the Striped Ribbon is from the new Holiday Catalog. I've stamped the Label Me Pretty stamps - border in Lemon Lime Twist & Basic Black for the sentiment & punched with the Pretty Label Punch. I've also punched a piece of Tranquil Tide & then cut that in half & glued it behind the sentiment to show as a border. The thank you sentiment is also from the Label Me Pretty stamp set, inked with White Craft ink & stamped onto Melon Mambo, cut with the Stitched Shapes Dies - my personal fave!

I think I could have stopped here & had a pretty good card, but I decided to jazz it up a bit cos I've got all these new toys from the upcoming Holiday Catalog & I just couldn't help myself!

New Holiday Catalog items I've used on this card:
  • 7/8" Striped Ribbon 144624
  • Year of Cheer Embellishments (silver) 144643
  • Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper (copper/champagne) 144640
  • Black Rhinestone Jewels 144639

And I added some Black & Silver Metallic Thread cos you know I just love the stuff!

HOT TIP - Mixing Metallics is in this season! Have fun & make a super sparkly card!

I hope you have enjoyed my project today! Please make sure you hop around the rest of the crew to see all their beautiful projects, you don't want to miss any! xx
