Ink & Inspiration August Blog Hop - Label Me Pretty & Playful Backgrounds

Hi Crafters!

Welcome to the August Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop! This month we are all getting our inspiration from my face cleanser haha!

So the story behind the cleanser is I get in the shower every morning & look at this bottle & think to myself 'I must case this'. I spend way too much time staring lovingly at this bottle. I love the layered shades, the colours, the different shapes & patterns. And it's a great cleanser haha! I thought it would be a little quirky & fun to do - inspiration can come from anywhere! The colours I picked out on this bottle are Tempting Turquoise, Lemon Lime Twist, Melon Mambo & Tranquil Tide.

Do you have moments where you're inspired by random things around your house?  I started off with a plan to replicate this bottle pretty closely in the colours & I wanted to try & also replicate the layering of the colours. So I had this piece of Glossy Paper that I'd sponged with Tempting Turquoise from this previous post & I decided to add Lemon Lime Twist to half of it in a couple of layers with rubbing alcohol (Isocol).

Then I Clear Heat Embossed the full circles from the Playful Backgrounds stamp set & wiped over it with some Isocol to try & remove some of the colour so that the bits I had heat embossed stood out a little more. I wasn't really happy that enough colour had come off so I wet it again with more Isocol & sprinkled it with salt flakes, which has left a lovely textured effect but I think next time I will try rock salt to get some bigger patterns.

Next I White Heat Embossed the circle outlines from the Playful Backgrounds stamp set & adhered the Glossy Paper to a Melon Mambo layer. I've added a strip of the Lemon Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon & the Striped Ribbon is from the new Holiday Catalog. I've stamped the Label Me Pretty stamps - border in Lemon Lime Twist & Basic Black for the sentiment & punched with the Pretty Label Punch. I've also punched a piece of Tranquil Tide & then cut that in half & glued it behind the sentiment to show as a border. The thank you sentiment is also from the Label Me Pretty stamp set, inked with White Craft ink & stamped onto Melon Mambo, cut with the Stitched Shapes Dies - my personal fave!

I think I could have stopped here & had a pretty good card, but I decided to jazz it up a bit cos I've got all these new toys from the upcoming Holiday Catalog & I just couldn't help myself!

New Holiday Catalog items I've used on this card:
  • 7/8" Striped Ribbon 144624
  • Year of Cheer Embellishments (silver) 144643
  • Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper (copper/champagne) 144640
  • Black Rhinestone Jewels 144639

And I added some Black & Silver Metallic Thread cos you know I just love the stuff!

HOT TIP - Mixing Metallics is in this season! Have fun & make a super sparkly card!

I hope you have enjoyed my project today! Please make sure you hop around the rest of the crew to see all their beautiful projects, you don't want to miss any! xx

RAK Blog Hop August - Lovely Words

Hi Crafters!

Another month of Random Act of Kindness fun times!! Each month, we each select a few people from the Group to send a RAK card to, to brighten their day. Please feel free to join the Group if you would like to participate in the RAK cards movement (blogging is not mandatory). #imbringingRAKcardsback #makeacardsendacard

I have used the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper (DSP) with a strip of Black Shimmer Ribbon & coordinating cardstock in Lemon Lime Twist, Emerald Envy, Berry Burst & Fresh Fig. I have cut a circle of Basic Black cardstock using the Stitched Shapes Dies.

I have then layered the Silver Foil with the Hugs circle die from the Lovely Words Dies with a slightly larger circle from the Layering Circle Dies & put them through the Big Shot at the same time. I have used both portions of the Hugs Die cuts so I get two sentiments from each die cut.

Here are the cards I have received this month. Thank you very much to the following beautiful ladies: Caitlyn Carlin, Linda Weincek, Nita Wainwright-Smith, Kate Benade, Simone Markman, Angie McKenzie & Vicky Wright. Your cards are all so lovely & brightened my day! xx

I hope you enjoyed my projects. Please hop around the rest, I'm sure you'll enjoy all the gorgeous projects.

Stampin Dreams August Blog Hop - Favourite InColor

Hi Crafters!

Hi guys! Welcome to the August Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop! This month, we are showcasing our Favourite InColours. I adore all the colours in this year's swatch so it was really hard to pick one. I ended up deciding to showcase the colour that I use the most - Tranquil Tide. This is a gorgeous colour & it works really well with most of the other colours in our little SU rainbow.

Here I've paired it with Tempting Turquoise & the Glossy White Paper. You can watch the video of how I made the background on my Facebook page.

First up is the gorgeous little mermaid from the Magical Mermaid stamp set. As soon as I made this background, the mermaid was calling out to me & what better than a Copper heat embossed mermaid to scratch my Copper addict itch!

I have used Tranquil Tide for the bubbles & for the backing layer. I have watercoloured the seaweed & mermaid in Tranquil Tide, layering it up on the left hand side of her tail & base of her fins & to make a few strands of her hair a bit darker. I've added Linen Thread & pulled Copper Trim. I cut the circle out with the Stitched Shapes dies on my Big Shot.

Then I made a couple of these with the same colour scheme, using the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set. I've made some Get Well & some Sympathy by changing up the inside stamps. This is what the Copper Trim looks like if you leave it as a ribbon (unpulled).

I hope you have enjoyed my cards & the technique shown. Make sure you hop around the rest of the crew & check out all their amazing projects! You don't want to miss any xx

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Martha Inchley - In the City

Hi Crafters!

Some exciting news for you today! We are CASE-ing (Copy & Selectively Edit) the lovely MARTHA INCHLEY, who is also joining us on this hop! Exciting!

I hope you find great inspiration from all the projects in this hop. You may be starting the hop here at my blog (Jessie Holton) or you may have come from the previous person on the list. Be sure to click on the next person in the list to continue your blog hop adventure casing Martha's work.

Here is Martha's card which I've chosen to Case. I just love this stamp set!

And here's my version using the same In The City hostess stamp set. I've also made my own background. You can see the video I made here on my Facebook page. I have made four of these. There must be something in the water, all my friends are moving house at the moment!

I've smoothed over some of the Embossing Paste using the Palette Knives & the cloud template from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks. I've left them white & fluffy, but you can mix in ink from your reinkers on the Silicone Mat. Remember to wash off your tools immediately in warm soapy water so that the Embossing Paste doesn't stick to them, it dries fast!

I have kept to a simple colour scheme of Tranquil Tide, Pool Party, Smokey Slate & Basic Black. I lined up the stamps into the above arrangement & then picked them all up on one clear block, stamping all the outlines in one go, filling in the colour & fussy cut them, leaving a strip along the bottom so they all stayed in one piece. I found this easier for making them in bulk.

The sentiment & bunting are from the Sweet Home stamp set. There are framelits for these, but I've fussy cut mine as I forgot I had the framelits haha! I've also added a nest of Silver Metallic Thread & some of the smallest silver sequins from the Metallic Sequins Assortment.

For the inside, I have used the Congratulations from Flourishing Phrases, the Welcome from Sweet Home & the house from In The City, all stamped in Tranquil Tide.

I hope that you have enjoyed my card today & the techniques shown. Have fun going around the rest of the crew & enjoy all the cards & projects we've made for you today! And special thanks to Martha for hopping with us, it was fun casing you!
